May bank holiday in Arlesford
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of the May bank holiday between 10am and 5pm
At Nr.7 West Street, right in the heart of Alresford, the Hampshire and Berkshire Guild of Craftsmen invite everyone to their Spring Exhibition.
"We liked Alresford so much that we try to make it a yearly event in the Guild's diary."
This Georgian market town sets the scene for a fine selection of hand crafted pieces by guild members.
This year's exhibition will showcase pottery and furniture completed by Ruta Brown's jewellery, Anne Hayward's prints and Tibor Eperjessy's leatherware. Jennie Gilbert will introduce a new line of her tableware; a lovely variation of her very popular mishima range. We will also have a guest this year, furniture maker Steven Bailey. A very promising event and if we're lucky May might even bring sunshine with it too.
Outstanding craft, lovely people, picturesque town, Georgian architecture, Hampshire countryside - what more could one want. Maybe a restored, operational Victorian steam train - any takers? The watercress line leaves just down the road from our temporary home for its journey between Alresford and Alton.
Please note that we are not showing on Monday. Saturday and Sunday only. Even we enjoy the occasional day of rest.
We're very much looking forward to seeing you soon.

Anne Hayward's 'Pelican Cove' at Royal Academy
Anne is delighted to have a wood engraving accepted for the R A Summer Exhibition for the second year running. The print ' Clouds and Trees at Pelican Cove' is based on drawings made while visiting her daughter in Australia in January this year. The cove is just a few minutes walk away from where her daughter and son-in-law live on Phillip Island, Victoria.[ the "Penguin Island" recently featured in a TV documentary ]
The image is about the interest of similar repetitive shapes seen in clouds and trees and the abstract relationship of shapes and textures engraved on the surface of the wood block as well as an attempt to create an illusion of space without the use of perspective.
