I started to work with enamel in 2018. The initial motivation was wanting to introduce colour to silver jewellery, however I very soon became hooked on the challenges of applying enamel to metal; it's a complex and unpredictable process and as such, completely fascinating.
Most of my work is on silver using transparent enamels and the traditional techniques of champlevé, cloisonné and basse taille. Transparent enamel is enhanced by texturing the silver surface under the enamel so hand engraving has also become an important part of my practice.
