Caroline Egleston

After studying ceramics at the Istituto d'Arte per la Ceramica in Faenza, Italy, I set up the Piccolpasso Workshop in Hampshire producing handmade tiles.

Each tile is formed and decorated by hand, so each one is unique.

The decorative technique I use is called 'Majolica', brushing colours and basic colour glazes onto a lovely tin base glaze.  This gives each tile freshness and depth of colour.
The tiles can be used in kitchens and bathrooms. They are practical, resilient and decorative. They can be arranged together in a line or panel and mixed with plainer tiles, or as a striking panel feature behind a small basin in a cloakroom or by a fireplace.
